I Should Have Been There

This was from Sierra Vista's Black Lives Matter March.
I should have been there.
Except I'm 60 years old and I walk with a cane. Back pain would have had me sidelined before I got half a block. At my age, it seems like I've become a liability to peaceful protest.
I am a disabled veteran. I put the uniform on tried to serve this country to the best of my ability. Turns out I wasn't good soldier material. I asked too many questions and had a tendency to balk when asked to do something stupid.
This week I have seen my cohorts from Fort Bragg be deployed against civilians at behest of a president with shady ties to foreign governments. A leader who is going down in history as the new King of the Bunker Bitches, or should I say, bunker inspectors?
The scary part about all this: He has the nuke codes. Yeah, that. THE NUKE CODES. I wouldn't trust him with a spitball and a straw and he's got the fucking codes to the end of the world. Hillary did try to warn us. Too bad she didn't have a penis, maybe then more people would have listened to her.
Back to the subject at hand. When I was in, we were told we would never be deployed against the American people unless there was some sort of dire rebellion going on, much like the late lamented War of Northern Aggression. I refuse to call it the Civil War because there wasn't a damned thing about it that was civil. I mean unarmed peaceful protesters and while no one opened fire, tear gas was deployed on the orders of a five-time draft dodger who equates avoiding STDs in college to serving in the military during a war. He thinks our elite troops, our immediate response troops, the best of the by-god best, were his own private toy soldiers to be used as a riot shield for a fucking photo op. Bunker Bitch came out of hiding with the 82nd Airborne and assorted other elite troops at his back to protect him from people armed with signs.
This is not the America I swore to protect and I am at this moment thankful I am no longer in uniform or allowed anywhere near that disgusting orange blob of protoplasm.
I can't march, but I can sure as hell write.
Fuck you, Trump!
Black lives matter!
Freedom matters!
226 days, 4 hours, 28 minutes until we take back our country....
